Nitrile - acrylonitrile-butadiene (NBR)

Working Temperature Range: -30° C to+ 100° C

Nitrile Rubber is general purpose elastomer for Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems and used as seal energizer for low pressure applications such as pneumatic, it has excellent resistance to mineral oil, greases, water, hydrocarban fuels, compression set resistance and good elastic properties, it is not suitable to automotive brakes fluid.

Chemical compatibility

Nitriles are good general purpose, oil resistant materials. The fact that they are less expensive than more complex high performance elastomers ensures their continuing popularity for sealing applications across all industrial sectors. But they have limited weathering resistanc

Fluoroelastomers/Viton (FPM/FKM)

Working Temperature Range : -30°C to +220°C

Viton Rubber is excellent resistance to mineral oils, hot water, steam, fuels, alcohol, hot oils, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon, it has poor resistance to methanol, ketones & esters also exhibits excellent chemical resistance for use in harsh environments such as phosphate esters.Well known compounds include Viton® from DuPont Performance Elastomers,
Chemical properties
Fluoroelastomers operate efficiently under severe chemical conditions and at higher temperatures where many other seal materials cannot survive. According to grade, they are well suited to arduous conditions with petroleum fuels and mineral-based hydraulic fluids, and many solvents.

Silicone (VMQ)

Working Temperature Range : -60°C to +200°C

Silicon Rubber has great cold flexibility as well as high thermal resistance. It has excellent de-electric properties and very good resistance to attack by oxygen, ozone and sunlight. It has poor strength & tear resistance to mineral oils.

Chemical properties

Excellent resistance to air, oxygen, hot and cold water, lower alcohols and vegetable oils. Good resistance to heat, weathering, and water/glycol hydraulic fluids, excellent electrical properties.General industral applications are often limited by high gas permeability, low tensile strength and poor resistance to tear and abrasion.

Chloroprene (CR)

Working Temperature Range : -20°C to +120°C

CR often known by the name neoprene its chief characteristice is flame retardency, excellent ageing properties in ozone and weather environments along with resistance to abrasion and flex faitigue. It is good resistance to mineral oils with high aniline point, greases refrigerants and water.

Chemical Properties

CR compounds will give satisfactory service in many media, including mineral lubricating oils and greases, silicone oils and greases, dilute acids and alkalis, and some solvents. They are also largely unaffected by sunlight and atmospheric ageing. These general purpose elastomers are widely used for their chemical resistance and aging characteristics.

Ethylene-propylene (EPM/EPDM)

Working Temperature Range : -45°C to +120°C

EPDM has good resistance to ozone ageing and weathering, water and steam, Dilute acid, alkalies ketones, alcohol, fire retardent hydraulic fluids and hydraulic brakes fluids, this elastomer must not come in contact with mineral oils and greases.

Chemical properties

They display resistance to aliphatic phosphate-ester hydraulic fluids, acids, alkalis, salt solutions, alcohols, glycols and silicone oils.Often used with steam raising plant. They must not be used with mineral oils or di-ester based lubricants.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)

Used mainly for o-rings, backup rings and machined parts used in special applications requiring chemical inertness and limited strength. Its flow characteristics under stress are usually a disadvantage in PTFE O-Rings.

Chemical properties

PTFE is an extremely inert material and is unaffected by virtually every known chemical including most acids, alkakis and solvents. Ideal for use in cryogenic applications.
